At the midway point of December, DogeBonk has persevered through the turbulent crypto landscape and now looks to the new year with a stronger foundation. As December winds down, the DogeBonk community celebrates the success of their much-awaited Big Stunt. Before we talk about that, let’s take a look at what the DogeBonk community has accomplished in the first half of December.

Please note that this list is in order of occurrence, starting with December 1st.

Bonkscars

On December 1st, the official DogeBonk Twitch account hosted the first ever Bonkscars. This was the culmination of a meme contest hosted on r/DogeBonk that asked contestants to submit DogeBonk video ads for prizes. The official film festival screening was attended by the community and it wasn’t without its controversy.

The first Bonkscars was held on December 1st, 2021

The Bonkscars winner was What Is DogeBonk?, a sleek video that hit every talking point for $DOBO and delivered on exactly what the contest was looking for — informative, promotional, high-energy, and funny. It delivered a summary of the DogeBonk project that makes a strong case for the high potential of the coin.

Of course, there was controversy. Adding yet another moment to DogeBonk lore, a Rick Roll-ish troll submission called Bonkyquest found itself as the underdog fan favorite for the community vote. It was up against the popular Empire Strikes Bonk video that showed DogeBonk destroying the competition via Darth Vader’s lightsaber. Despite its high production value, the DOBO community was firmly behind the troll video, which featured Bonky slowly making his way to the moon — and we mean slowly. As the vote wound down and Bonkyquest appeared to have it won, there was a “late surge” of voting that became an instant meme itself (see below). In the end, Empire Strikes Bonk won at the buzzer.

BattleBonk

The DogeBonk community is one of the most active and energetic communities in all of crypto. Whether they are contributing memes, tweeting, or generating rock song parodies, the content never seems to stop. In early December, a community member submitted his beta version of a new browser game called BattleBonk. The DogeBonk Telegram community ran a contest to help test the game with the three highest scores in a 12-hour window getting small prizes. This provided feedback to the creator and also worked to completely befuddle the minds of its testers.

BattleBonk is not the only DogeBonk game created by the community. There is also a Bonk-A-Mole game and a Bonk Invaders game.

DogeBonk, LLC

As promised, the community formed a DogeBonk, LLC. to help facilitate the process of applying and getting listed on centralized exchanges. This LLC, based out of Wyoming in the United States, also adds credibility and opens up new possibilities for further expansion of the DOBO ecosystem. It’s important to remember that, as a community project, DogeBonk is not an actual company. DogeBonk is code running on the blockchain. DogeBonk, LLC. does not own the token.

Meme Of The Year

It’s actually official. According to the 17.1 million Reddit users on the popular r/Memes subReddit, DogeBonk has the Meme of the Year for 2021. This contest was voted on over the course of multiple weeks, and the DOBO community made it a goal to win. The competition was stiff but DogeBonk prevailed and saw what was basically free advertising on one of Reddit’s most popular subs for multiple weeks.

Monitoring the r/DogeBonk subReddit after the Meme Of The Year results were published, there was a quick wave of nearly 300 new users to the subReddit in 24 hours. The final results posted on r/Memes had over 13,000 upvotes, nearly 500 comments, a multitude of awards, and was crossposted across at least 6 subReddits. This is the type of organic, grassroots exposure that DOBO is known for.

Yes, Billboards

The contentious calling card of DogeBonk is the embracing of billboards, and of course that continued throughout the first couple weeks of December. After a back-and-forth over issues unrelated to DogeBonk, the London billboards were released in over 30 high-traffic areas along with a #MindTheBonk campaign. On top of that, digital billboards with a constant rotation of DogeBonk memes went live in Montreal and Vancouver. Both of these billboard campaigns were paid for by the community, thus putting an end to the question of whether or not the community loves the billboard culture of DogeBonk.

A Reddit campaign also finished up to produce a billboard campaign for January in Sydney, Australia.

MemeTools.app

Delivering on one of the earliest ideas discussed by the DogeBonk community, MemeTools.app was finally released on December 18th, 2021. MemeTools will help add utility to the $DOBO token as well as help build within the entire memecoin ecosystem. The site fuctions as a listing site like Coingecko or CoinMarketcap, but with the twist that a token must purchase and burn a certain amount of DOBO to be listed.

MemeTools will extend an invitation for all memecoins to be noticed. One of the goals is to help promote and normalize the memecoin space by recognizing the communities that support their coins. Of course, the additional bonus is that this provides a secondary burn mechanism for DogeBonk, something that even some of the most popular coins in crypto do not have. The additional coins burnt should help to solidify the rising floor.

Artistic Stunt

Perhaps the most talked-about event for DogeBonk since its launch, the artistic stunt was announced live on Twitch (click here to view) and livestreamed on Sunday December 19th, 2021. The history of the Artistic Stunt will be delved into deeper in the coming days, but the event was a giant success.

Within minutes of a teaser video posted in the Telegram on Saturday night, the DOBO price took a big jump back up, going up over 50% in hours. This also led to #SorryElon trending on Twitter, with nearly 20k tweets in less than 24 hours. The DOBO community has been hungry for the Artistic Stunt, and they showed it.

Loaded onto a Ledger wallet and driven on an 8-hour round trip by a member of the team, the DogeBonk launch was streamed live on Twitch to a live audience. With some breaks in the action for memes, the event itself was funny, emotional, and inspiring. A growing, grassroots memecoin was able to beat billionaire Elon Musk to outer space, marking DogeBonk’s place in the crypto and financial history books.

The Big Artistic Stunt was followed shortly by an Express article acknowledging DogeBonk as the first memecoin in space, as well as debates from famous crypto personalities like the creator of DOGE (@BillyM2K on Twitter) and Reddit’s WallStreetBets’ @WSBChairman, who hinted that DogeBonk stole his idea.

To relive the DogeBonk Artistic Stunt, you can view the replay of the livestream here. The event is followed by the real-time footage of the entire launch. You can also view a great promotional video made by the community to celebrate the event here.

TikBonk

Over the first couple of weeks of December, a #BONK filter went viral on TikTok, with tons of popular TikTok influencers posting using the trending filter. There was also DogeBonk filter made for Snapchat by the DOBO community.

Additionally, the official DogeBonk TikTok account also went live in December. On top of that, the account has been setup so that anyone can make donations to TikTok-approved nonprofits through the app. The app will keep track of how much each person has donated.
