DogeBonk (DOBO) Mid-January Recap
The DogeBonk (DOBO) team ended 2021 with a bang by beating Elon Musk and becoming the first memecoin in space. The entire crypto market slowed down for the holidays, but the DOBO team remained hard at work building the community, implementing features, and adding more features to help with mainstream adoption of DogeBonk.
NFT Marketplace Announcement
Less than a quarter of an hour into the New Year (EST), DogeBonk announced that their NFT marketplace was in the final stages of development. This will not only add utility to the DOBO token but also greatly increase the audience and reach of the DogeBonk brand. DOBO will be the native token of the platform, and the team has every intention of becoming the premier NFT marketplace on Binance Smartchain. Additionally, multiple smaller projects listed on DogeBonk’s MemeTools platform have expressed their interest in hosting NFT lines through the upcoming marketplace. This development will fill a gap on Binance Smartchain and provide a massive new use case for DOBO.
Before the marketplace was announced, MemeTools was the hot topic for DogeBonk holders. MarketWatch and Yahoo! published articles about MemeTools on January 2nd, with Yahoo! stating, “the creativity is off the charts.” MemeTools was an early concept that began listing coins on late December 2021. The MemeTools Medium account published a recap of their progress as of January 18th, 2022 that highlighted the increased volume, social media growth, and more. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of MemeTools so far is the excitement it causes outside of the DogeBonk community. While still serving as a utility for DOBO, there are now over 70 memecoin communities of various sizes becoming involved with the DogeBonk brand. It is very clear that MemeTools has been a big success so far, and the upcoming additions to the site will continue the trend.
Continuing the troll on billionaire Elon Musk, the DogeBonk team purchased a prominent billboard outside of the SpaceX factory in California. This story was picked up by publications like The Express, who wrote that Elon Musk was “humiliated” for his failure to make Doge the first memecoin in space. This story was picked up by a number of outlets. In keeping with the DogeBonk spirit, the small r/billboard community was obtained and turned into a DogeBonk-powered hangout, with the SpaceX billboard proudly pinned to the top of the sub.
There has also been a flurry of exchanges and tracking sites that have added DogeBonk in the first month of 2022. Notably, Binance started tracking the price of DogeBonk on January 9th. DogeBonk trading was also added to StealthEX, ChangeNow, SwapSpace, and SwapZone, increasing the adoption and accessability of the DOBO token. Popular exchange FTX also added DogeBonk to their app and website’s portfolio tracker. DogeBonk Marketing Lead Ghostbro is also scheduled to appear in an AMA with StealthEX on January 24th.
DogeBonk In The News
DogeBonk has once again found itself featured in the news, with an article published in The Independent that took a deep-dive look into memecoins amidst the changing world we’re living in. Stating that “communities have value”, DogeBonk was highlighted along both major memecoins Doge and Shiba Inu. A DogeBonk developer was quoted in the article, stating :
While other memecoins pay Elon to run ads on his SpaceX satellites, we beat his pet project Dogecoin into space using community-paid funding. We are the first memecoin in space, the new trolls of web 3.0. We have the funds to do funny things and we want to meme DogeBonk into being the biggest memecoin of 2022.
This article led to debate across some circles of Twitter, with the anti-cryptocurrency crowd chiming in with their disdain for everything crypto; only for DogeBonk’s BonkSquad team of enthusiasts to spread out on Twitter to counterbalance the negativity. The debate alone increased DogeBonk’s visibility and added the first memecoin in space to the consciousness of even the crypto haters.
Continuing The Trend
Despite some volatility in the broader markets, the DogeBonk team continues to push forward with updates and events. MemeTools continues to be worked on and has shown amazing growth in the early stages of the project. The NFT marketplace has potential to fill a huge void on the Binance Smartchain, as there is no go-to place for NFT creators and investors. The continued media attention to DogeBonk has carried over to social media activity, where DogeBonk still grows and sees tons of activity day-to-day.
